Hereworth is one of New Zealand’s leading independent preparatory schools, catering for boys in years 1-8.

Strong Points – Subjects Hereworth has a strong academic programme that is designed to engage boys to reach their individual potential. Mathematics, english, science, social science etc are all taught in the curriculum but unlike many other primary/intermediate schools, Hereworth also has specialist subjects- art, music, technology, religious education and hauora (health and well being), which are all taught by specialist teachers in specific areas dedicated to those subjects. Herewoth offers small class sizes at every year level.
Strong Points – Sports Team sport is compulsory for all boys – in summer they play cricket, tennis and softball. Winter sports are rugby, hockey and football. There are also a range of other optional sport choices available. It is compulsory for all to take part in swimming and athletic sports and the annual cross country. There are many other Clubs available to the boys and they are encouraged to participate in other sports outside of school.
Strong Points – Cultural Hereworth is an Anglican school but welcomes boys of all denominations. Hereworth has its own very special St James’ Chapel, which plays an integral part in the school community. The boys attend chapel services during the week. Hereworth has a very strong choir of over 50 boys, music and drama classes as part of the weekly timetable. All boys take part in annual speech competitions.

Special Facilities Izard Building is home to a hard materials work shop, sewing room, kitchen where boys learn to cook, computer suite, music and drama room, and a library that caters to boys interests.
Accommodation Hereworth have has an onsite safe and secure boarding house which over 30 boys call home during the week and term.which many boys from all over New Zealand call home. There is pastoral care provided to all boys in the boarding house with an on site, live in matron and a Boarding Master ensuring they are well cared for. All meals are also provided in the school dining room.
